$4 million renovation for Heart Hospital

Kansas Heart Hospital is embarking on about $4 million worth of expansion and remodeling.

"We just keep a low profile and keep running," says Lynn Jeane, chief operating officer. The 9-year-old hospital at 3601 N. Webb Road has 54 beds. "We're doing some internal renovations, but we're not adding any beds," Jeane says.

Upgrades and expansions will come in several areas, including the pharmacy, imaging and radiology, respiratory therapy and the clinical lab area. The hospital is renovating about 7,000 square feet and adding 7,000 square feet. The new square footage will house locker rooms, a fitness area and an employee lounge. "They're getting bumped out of the areas they're in now," Jeane says. That's because the areas that are upgrading "need to expand in the central core area," Jeane says.

There's going to be a new conference center to replace one that was lost a year ago in another renovation. And there will be some additional parking during this remodeling with more to come in a future expansion. Simpson and Associates Construction Services is the contractor.
